The village of Agaram is also known as Thenneri Agaram where there is an ancient temple known as the Agaram Srinivasa Perumal temple. The exact age of this temple is unknown, but believed to be more than 1200 years old.

The temple in Agaram is very famous and one of the oldest temples for its association with Kanchipuram Varadaraja Perumal, who comes once a year to Agaram and has a procession on a floating barge on the lake near the Agaram Temple. On that occasion he also stays at the temple for a day. This festival is known as Sri Devaraja Perumal Theppam and several hundred people converge on this holy occasion and stay at Agaram right through the day.

The temple has the following main structures:

Sri Alarmel Mangai Thayar Sannadhi, 

Sri Devaraja Perumal Sannadhi, (Kanchipuram Sri Varadharaja Perumal)

Sri Veera Anjaneyar Sannadhi,

Andal,

Azhwars and Acharyans,

A 3 Storied Rajagopuram,

Compound Wall, 

2 Madapalligal (0ne for Srinivasa Perumal and another one for the annual use of Kanchipuram Sri Varadaraja Perumal) and Mandabangal. These were all built approximately 80 years back.

A society called the “Thenneri Agaram Sri Srinivasa Perumal Kainkarya Sabha“has been formed. They did Maha samprokshanam to this temple on 27-Jan-2010 (Thai month 10th) with the help of Thenneri agaram villagers and many Bhakthas who offered for the welfare of this temple. On the year of 2009, on April 29th, Wednesday at 6 am during an auspicious time the balalayam ceremony was performed. This ceremony is done to secure and isolate the Moolava Moorthies and prevent any damage to them during renovation as well as move all the Utsava Moorthies to a safe location (within the temple premises ) thereby allowing the construction work to commence.

Vaarshika Utsavam

The vaarshika utsavam for Lord Srinivasa, Alarmel mangai thayar and Sri Devaraja perumal at Thenneri Agaram Sri Srinivasa Perumal Temple, Thenneri Agaram. Special Thirumanjanam, Ekadina Tiruvoimozhi sevai, Sattrumurai and Temple procession will take place as part of the utsavam. Also the thenneri theppotsavam of Sri Varadaraja Perumal, Kanchipuram, will take place.

1) Chennai Tambaram to Varanavasi (en route Padappai, Oragadam, Varanavasi to Agaram).
2) Chennai Sriperumbudur to Thenneri (en route Sunguvarchathram to Wallajahbad).
3) Thenneri Srinivasa perumal temple (another temple near Lake) - 1.5 Kms
4) Kattavakkam - 3 Kms (Kattavakkam Viswaroopa Narasimhar temple)
5) Walajabad - 8 Kms
6) Kanchipuram - 24 Kms
